Michael Love is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Cook Counseling Center. His clinical interests include depression, anxiety, problems with alcohol and drug use, and men’s issues, as well as communication and relationships. He enjoys facilitating therapeutic groups and working with couples.

He has conducted research on prescription drug abuse, empathy, identity-affirming practice with LGBT clients, and first-generation college students’ adjustment to university life.

Love approaches therapy primarily from a psychodynamic and interpersonal perspective, also including techniques from Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. His clinical work involves helping clients to understand themselves as well as to make practical changes in everyday life.

Love holds a Psy.D. in counseling psychology from Radford University.
