Erica Coates, LCSW

Assistant Director of Partnership Initiatives / Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Erica is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who feels it is a profound privilege to facilitate growth and healing in others as they discover their own resilience through hardships and injustices.  Erica draws from behavioral models to help clients achieve changes in themselves, as well as family systems models to help clients understand and shift their relationship patterns.  Fascinated to experience the world through the eyes of another, she listens closely to understand the perspectives and needs of her clients from their cultural and developmental lens, and support them towards reaching their goals.  She enjoys working with individuals suffering from trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression.  More specifically she has experience supporting those with a diagnosis of autism, Spanish speakers, and those struggling with identity difficulties pertaining to their religious/cultural upbringing.

Erica obtained her Bachelors in Psychology with minors in Music and Spanish from Anderson University in 2004, and her Masters in Social Work from Syracuse University in 2009.  She has worked in clinical, administrative, and program development roles in human service agencies in South Carolina, New York, and North Carolina before joining the Cook Counseling Center in 2017.
