Summer Services

Cook Counseling Center is open over the summer! Not sure what service you need or have questions about summer access? Please call us at 540-231-6557. We are happy to help connect you to the needed resource or service.

Our summer hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (May 18- August 7)

Summer Services at Cook Counseling Center in Blacksburg

  • Students enrolled in Summer 2026 courses with a paid summer health fee are eligible for services at Cook Counseling Center. (Most students enrolled in in-person summer courses have paid the summer health fee as part of their tuition. If you are enrolled in online course(s) or are unsure about your coverage, please check with the Bursar’s office.)
  • Students in good academic standing* who are not enrolled in summer courses will need to pay either the health fee of $125.75 for the summer semester, or the day charge of $45 for each appointment. There are two ways to pay the fee:
    • Credit/debit card, through a link sent by the counseling center
    • Direct to student account via the Bursar

To pay the health fee with any of these options, please discuss with your Cook Counseling provider.

Please note:

  • Students not connected to services in the current 2025/2026 academic year should schedule a Cook Connect appointment to discuss treatment options BEFORE paying the summer health fee.
  • Students not eligible for services (for example: in between degree programs, recently graduated, currently out on suspension or medical withdrawal) are welcome to schedule a Cook Connect appointment for assistance in identifying mental health treatment options in their area.

*Students are considered in good academic standing if they are enrolled in Spring 2026, enrolled in Fall 2026, and are not: suspended, out on medical withdrawal, between degree programs, recently graduated and re-entering Virginia Tech, or suspended due to conduct or other issues.

Summer Services through TimelyCare

Students outside the Blacksburg area (and in good academic standing) have access to TimelyCare services including scheduled counseling, 24/7 Mental Health Consultations, and Health Coaching in all 50 U. S. States. Please download the TimelyCare app or register for TimelyCare online.
