Caitlyn Thelen, PsyD

Caitlyn earned her Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology from Radford University and recently completed her pre-doctoral internship at Cook Counseling Center. She also holds a B.S. in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University.

As the Embedded Counselor for the Pamplin College of Business, Caitlyn works with students in Pamplin for counseling. She also provides consultation with Pamplin faculty and staff and facilitates outreach presentations related to mental health issues. She has experience working with concerns related to adjustment, depression, anxiety, trauma, and eating/body image concerns.

Caitlyn works to create a collaborative environment where she can help students explore how their thoughts and beliefs about themselves impact their mental health and well-being as well as understand where those beliefs originated and how to change them. She uses a range of therapy approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal process. Caitlyn also aims to build strong, supportive relationships with her students, as she believes that the therapeutic relationship is critical to change in therapy.
