Paul Knackstedt, Ph.D.
Paul began working at Virginia Tech in 2016. After splitting time between Athletics and the Cook Counseling Center for his first six years at Virginia Tech, he was recently promoted to an Assistant Athletics Director position and now works full time in Athletics. He graduated from William and Mary and was a baseball student-athlete. He completed a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from UNC Greensboro and was a graduate assistant baseball coach there before moving to Oregon where he earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology degree at Pacific University. Paul is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. Paul’s areas of interest include biofeedback, mindfulness, and injury recovery. He is a member of the American Psychological Association Division 47 (Exercise and Sport Psychology) and the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. Paul’s duties include providing individual and group therapy, performance enhancement, team workshops, and campus outreach presentations.
