Shelbi Fisher, Ph.D.

Sport Psychologist

Shelbi is a Sport Psychologist embedded at the Merryman Athletic Facility. She spends two days/week working as part of the triage team at Cook Counseling Center. Shelbi graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a BS in Psychology (2017) and an MS in Counseling Psychology (2019). Shelbi earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL in 2024. Shelbi's areas of interest include substance use, eating/fueling concerns, anxiety, depression, family of origin issues, adaptation to injury, identity development, and interpersonal relationships. Shelbi works from an integrative systems perspective and incorporates DBT and interpersonal process-based interventions. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes creating a validating and compassionate environment for clients to discover their most authentic selves, while also skill-building in the areas of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal functioning.
