Lisa Williams, M.S.W.
Lisa is a Resident in Social Work at Cook Counseling Center. She earned her B.S.W. from Radford University and M.S.W. from East Tennessee State University. She is a client centered values-driven clinician with a passion for working with first-generation and international students, providing them with culturally sensitive counseling and support to navigate the challenges of college life and achieve academic and personal success.
Lisa’s therapeutic approach is grounded in strength-based, solution-focused, and culturally sensitive care. Central to her practice is the integration of trauma-informed principles, which prioritize safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment in the therapeutic relationship. By incorporating elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Lisa offers a comprehensive and tailored approach to meet the unique needs of each individual she serves.
