Sachin Lokuge, B.S.

Doctoral Psychology Practicum Student

Sachin (he/him/his) is a 3rd year graduate student in Virgina Tech’s clinical science psychology Ph.D. program. Sachin’s clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, as well as ADHD, and how these disorders can intersect with each other. He is oriented towards cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based practices. Sachin believes that therapy should be personalized to each individual, and invites discussions of themes such as identity (socioeconomic status, culture, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, etc.), existentialism and interpersonal relationships.

From a research perspective, Sachin is interested in studying the underlying characteristics that contribute to the maintenance and relapse of symptoms across disorders, such as motivation and reward.

Prior to pursuing graduate school, Sachin received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Toronto, during which time he also volunteered at the Mindfulness Awareness Lab. During his postbaccalaureate, he worked as a research coordinator at a psychiatric outpatient clinic specializing in adult mood and anxiety disorders and ADHD.

In his spare time, Sachin enjoys experimenting with new recipes, polishing his basketball skills, and spending time with dogs. His favorite part of Blacksburg is the local farmers market.
