Lydia Qualls, Ph.D.

Lydia is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at the Cook Counseling and a member of the Cook Connect triage team. She serves as the Assessment Coordinator for Cook Counseling Center, as well as the liaison between Cook Counseling, the Services for Students with Disabilities office, and the Disability Alliance and Caucus at Virginia Tech.

Lydia earned her B.A. in Psychology at Vanderbilt University, her M.S. in Psychology at Old Dominion University, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Norfolk, VA. Lydia enjoys working with young adults with a wide variety of presenting concerns. Her particular interests include LGBTQ+ young adults, Autistic young adults, and those with both of these identities. Lydia works with clients collaboratively, using an approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and interpersonal, process-oriented techniques. Her research focuses on the differences in sexual minority (LGBQ+) orientations in Autistic and non-Autistic young adults. In her free time, Lydia likes hiking, reading, and discovering new restaurants.
