Tara Baluck, Ph.D.
Tara is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who joined the Cook Counseling Center Staff in 2019. She received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in LGBT Studies from Kent State University, and her M.S. and later her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. Tara has experience working with clients who have a variety of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, bipolar disorder, and substance-related issues. She has worked extensively with LGBTQ+ clients and with clients in polyamorous relationships, and provides individual, group, and couples therapy. At this time, Tara’s primary clinical role at Cook is serving as a member of the triage team: in this role, she meets with students for Cook Connect appointments to assess their current needs and help them connect with services that may be a good fit for them. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, foraging for edible plants and mushrooms, and video games.
