Zack Cockrum, M.S.

Resident in Counseling
Zack Cockrum

Zackary Cockrum (he/him) serves as a Triage Clinician at Virginia Tech. He also enjoys seeing clients individually and being a group leader of one of the many group offerings at Cook. A graduate of Radford University with a Masters in Counselor Education, Zack worked in the community for 5 years before coming to Virginia Tech. While working in the community setting, Zack worked closely with the public-school system as a counselor for kids and adolescences ages 5-18. This work greatly shaped Zack’s compassion and a desire to be alongside others as they go through major life changes both beautiful and challenging.

When not at work, Zack is an avid reader of all genres totaling somewhere around 200 books a year. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their many dogs and cats, exact numbers aren’t important here. Alongside reading, Zack enjoys playing video games, running, biking and getting excess energy out. Zack was raised in the New River Valley and is happy to call the Blue Ridge Mountains home.
