Charlotte Amenkhienan, Ph.D.
Charlotte A. Amenkhienan is the Associate Director for Community Center Engagement at Cook Counseling Center. She oversees the center’s campus engagement, mental health outreach and prevention for the Virginia Tech community. Additionally, she provides individual and group counseling to students. She incorporates an integrative approach of interpersonal process and cognitive behavioral therapies, encompassed within a multicultural framework. She also oversees the center’s peer education program, Peer Assistance for Learning (PAL). She has held roles in the Association for University and College Counseling Center Outreach (AUCCCO). She is a founding member of AUCCCO. She has written and published in counseling, student affairs, assessment, higher education administration, student’s success and retention. She works with a wide range of college students’ concerns with a special interest in relationships, grief and loss, and second-generation students (whose parents immigrated to the U.S.).
Amenkhienan holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech and is a licensed professional counselor.
