Andrew Facemire, Psy.D.

Resident in Clinical Psychology

Andrew earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Spalding University in Louisville, KY. He earned his B.A. in Psychology and Creative Writing from West Virginia Wesleyan College and M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Morehead State University. Andrew’s professional interests include social anxiety and anxiety disorders; mood disorders; neurodiversity; multicultural and LGBTQ issues; gender identity exploration and development; and the use of hobbies, art, and personal passions to improve mental health. Andrew’s dissertation focused on the use of role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons as therapeutic interventions. Before working in college counseling centers, he provided therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults at community-based clinics. He has additionally worked with clients in inpatient, correctional, and private practice settings. Andrew views therapy as a collaborative process, understanding and valuing the differences in each of his clients. He enjoys helping clients find solutions that work for them as individuals. He applies person-centered/process-oriented, emotion-focused, and cognitive behavioral approaches in sessions.  

In his spare time, Andrew enjoys playing both tabletop and video games with friends, running and exercising, trying new foods, and listening to live music. His pride and joy is his black cat, Unagi.
