Josie Therapy Dog

Josie was born on November 11th, 2018 and joined the staff at the Cook Counseling Center in May, 2021. She was born and received her training at Service Dogs of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Josie and her handler Dr. Rami Steinruck are registered through Assistance Dogs International as a “Facility Dog” team. Josie loves to work, and is happy to serve as part of the Animal Assisted Therapy program at VT. Josie is present in individual therapy, group therapy, and can be found at various outreach events. At work, Josie enjoys greeting people and offering a listening ear. She enjoys resting her head on student’s feet and being pet on the chest. In her free time, Josie loves early morning walks, squeaky toys, and birdwatching.”
